A Healthy Lifestyle

For those of you who know me, you know my eating habits are less than stellar...and you know my husband's are that much worse. We've been together since high school, and we share a love of all things fried. I've slowly but surely realized that your body doesn't handle that kind of food as well in your late twenties as it does in your teens and college years!

I did great in my pregnancy by doctor's standards. I ate crap, but still gained the recommended 30 pounds. I even lost 35 after having him, but it's slowly crept up on my that...crap...I'm going to have to eat better, and even worse, work out. I thought it would be the end of the world, but alas, it's not.

Luckily I work with a few girls who are fitness experts, or seem so to me! I've started (gasp) counting calories and working out. I actually feel amazingly better in just a few short weeks. I've lost 4 pounds and have a lot more energy. Who would have thought not eating fried everything would make you feel that way? I'm trying to eat a lot of fruit and veggies, and I'm eating more during the day. Hopefully this will be a lifestyle change. My next goal is to get Taylor on board with me!

It's funny. We would sit and eat chicken fingers and french fries, but not my child! I stuff him full of organic yogurt, fruit, veggies (which he barely eats!!), and "good foods". I've let up a little bit now that he's a toddler. I will let him have chick fil a nuggets, and a few other things. But I figure I should pump him full of good foods while I have the power to do it! So here's to healthy eating...I hope it sticks!

Too much to catch up on...

I think the way I start these posts each time is, gosh it's been forever since the last time I blogged. I guess I will stop and you can just assume I won't post for a few months at a time. What's new??? Well, Brody is 16 months old!! More like 16.5 mos. Time sure does fly. I watched a video I took of him crawling at 7 months. It really let's you see how much he's grown!

I believe at his 15 month appointment he was 29.5 lbs. I can't remember the exact height, just that both height and weight are still in the 95th percentile for his age. He had an ear infection last week and was right over 30 lbs with clothes on. What a big boy!!! He's growing so fast, and doing so much now that I can't keep up!

A lot has changed since my last post. Taylor lost his job with Lowes and was out of work for a mere three weeks. God showed himself and provided in a major way! He got a severance package to last for about 5-6 weeks, but landed another job with Lowes in a District position just three weeks later! We were so humbled by the love, prayers and support poured out by our family and friends. Taylor is now able to work Monday-Friday 7-5, which is an AMAZING change for us! I have my husband back! It's so wonderful to eat dinner together every night and put Brody to bed together. It was all in God's plan, and we are so thankful!

Some of you know that I was a bit worried by the fact that Brody wouldn't say much of anything at all. A mama here, dada there, pop pop MOST of the time, but his vocabulary really took off in the past few months. Pop Pop is still his favorite thing to say. He picks up our phones and puts it to his ear and says "HI POP POP!!" (usually sounds like Aye Pop Pop!). Some of his favorite words are ball, dog, thank you (ta-ku), juice (jss), more (mo mo), and many more. Bottle, blankie and basically anythig with a B has become bah!. He is also making many animal sounds. Ducks say cack cack, doggies say Rff Rff in a sweet high pitched tone, Cows say mmmmm, and lions roar...can't type the sound effect to that one. I love it though!

I will try to post again soon with updated pictures of Brody. I've been REALLY slack about taking pictures lately. We are having a ball, even though we are utterly exhausted with a full blown toddler, but we are thankful!
