Toddler Life - 13 months

So this is life with a toddler. I feel like in the past month, Brody has developed the full toddler essence. He is into everything, headstrong, independent...and FAST. It is hands on all the time! I must admit that I was pretty emotional about him turning one and not being a "baby" anymore, but this is just fun. There isn't a much better word to describe it. He's so.much.fun.

Let's see...what Brody is doing now:

He is going to daycare 3 days a week instead of 2. My mom watches him one day a week, and Taylor, due to his changing schedule, is home with him one day during my work week. He is really adjusting well to his new daycare, Willow Brook Academy. The teachers in his class are amazing and he's already learning so much! He is now using sign language to tell me things like more, please, thank you etc. It's the cutest thing ever!!!

At daycare, Brody takes one nap from 12:30 to 2, but at home we are still encouraging two naps. He is still napping for me at least 2 hours in the morning and afternoon. I'm holding onto those as long as possible!

Brody goes to bed at 8pm (daycare days he goes to bed more like 7:30 out of pure exhaustion) and usually wakes up around 7AM. Sometimes earlier, sometimes later.

He has gotten 3 molars in the past 3 weeks. His fourth is cutting this week! Not fun times. Poor thing is chewing on everything! I'm hoping after this one cuts, we will have a little break. At the moment he's up to 9 teeth, going on 10.

He's eating....well,...everything. He doesn't have any real restrictions to his diet. The hardest part is getting him to eat vegetables. I'm STILL pulling out the baby food veggies as a last resort. I can sneak peas into pasta and green beans or peas between the bread of his grilled cheese, but it's hard to get them in there! Some of his favorite foods are grilled cheese, rotini noodles and with tomato sauce (veggie infused pasta AND sauce...again...doing all I can!), whole grain blueberry waffles, any kind of yogurt he can get his hands on, and FRUIT!!! My kid loves loves loves fruit. I call him monkey because he could eat 5 bananas a day if I'd let him. He also likes peaches, pears, oranges and plums. He's not a huge fan at the moment of berries or apples. He also loves melon. Thanks to his Pop Pop (my dad) he's a cookie monster too. He doesn't get them from me, but he knows my dad is the source of all kinds of sugar:)

Brody is just a sweet boy. I love that even with his little temper that's developing, he is still a total sweetheart. He loves to hug and kiss...loves to cuddle and suck his thumb while holding his blankie. He used to want me and my mom more than anyone, but he's totally ditching us for the guys. He's now a total Daddy's boy and almost moreso a Pop Pop's boy. It's precious. Love that boy!

Our last visit to the doctor, about 2 weeks ago due to Bronchitis, showed that he weighs 28 and a half lbs. That's right folks, he's still a chunk! But he's super tall too...so it's all good.

Hopefully I will get better at posting updates about our little man, and hopefully I'll get better at taking video! He's so funny...I need to start capturing it! Here are just a few pics.

1....year...old

Well...he's officially 1 year old! On October 25th my sweet boy turned one. I was a little emotional on his actual birthday. It's hard to digest that he's already a year old. It doesn't seem like that long ago. We've certainly come a long way, and I've enjoyed the ride! It has been a wonderful year...and we will keep enjoying watching Brody grow up!

We had the cutest football themed party...so much fun! The party may have been more than I expected to do for the 1st bday, but it turned out great and we had a blast with our family and close friends! Our friend at church, Monique, did Brody's birthday cake. I was AMAZED! She did SUCH a great job, and we had so much freaking cake left over! Ultimately we wanted to hang out with friends and have fun. That's exactly what we did. After the eating, cake and presents, we hung outside and thew the football. Great, great time. We are so blessed to have such amazing family and friends. Really don't know what we would do without them. It's so wonderful to have so much love surrounding Brody. He's a very blessed kid! Here are some pics of our 1 yr old cutie!

Utter Destruction

I'm a bad blogger. So be it. With a full time job and a full time toddler...time leaves me! However, I thought I'd take a moment to describe the destructive tendencies of a walking almost one year old.

When Brody was a newborn...up until about 3 months, I used to think, "man...I can't wait until he's old enough to walk and be more self sufficient. My life will be so much easier." I would disregard it when my friends with toddlers would tell me to enjoy my time with a baby who can't move and relies on me completely. Now I know. I'm much wiser! Brody is EVERYWHERE and into EVERYTHING. Cabinets, fridge, coffee table cabinets, tv, computer, etc. Everything he's NOT supposed to have, he gets into. This is also why we are having to implement a LITTLE discipline, but that's a blog for another day. He bangs toys on walls, knocks things off shelves, records every show currently played on tv, etc.

As destructive as he is...and I promise he is...my walls will tell you that, I can't refrain from saying how much fun he is. I mean SO fun. He laughs harder, plays harder, and loves harder. I melt when he snuggles up to me voluntarily...without me picking him up. The way he knows how to give kisses - the fun open mouth kind. Now when I pick him up from daycare, he all but RUNS to me with his goofy, show-your-teeth grin. I'm pretty deeply in love with this kid. His ONE YEAR blog is soon to come. For now, here are a few cute pics of Brody in his new football jersey for his upcoming football birthday party!

10 Months...one step closer to 1

I am beginning to realize my baby is almost a toddler. In two short months he will be 1 yr old. I can't even fathom this! I feel like just yesterday I was getting up every 3 hours to feed him during the night. In thinking back on all the milestones, however big or little, it's been a great 10 months.

The title of this blog can also be taken literally. Brody took his FIRST STEPS 2 weeks ago!!!! I can't believe I didn't blog about it then, but better late than never. I was sitting on the floor with him standing holding on to the couch, and I handed him one of his toys. He let go from the couch and was standing on his own, then took two steps toward me! I immediately called Taylor, who was totally bummed he missed it, then my mom! The next day he took 3 steps from me to my mom, and since then, more and more! This past weekend he took 6 steps on his own! He is transitioning from only taking steps when we are coercing him, to taking them on his own. He is starting to let go of one toy and walk to the other on his own. I can't believe my baby is starting to walk! I thought this happened closer to a year, not 9 months! I have a feeling in the next few weeks, he will be full blown walking. Running by a year.

He is a full fledged boy! They told me at his daycare that he is also taking steps there, and subsequently falling and banging his head on things! That child is sure to be scratched and bruised. A week doesn't go by that he isn't banging into something while trying to get to what he isn't allowed to have! Electronics, cords, the steps, etc. You name it, he wants it. Allll boy.

Brody's schedule has stayed pretty much the same as at 9 months. We are introducing new foods here and there. He still only has his two top teeth and two bottom teeth, but he is teething something awful! His top teeth beside the top two are coming in. I'm praying sooner than later. Last week had some sleepless nights for me, but he's doing much better.

So I'm going to try to enjoy as much as I can in the next two months before Brody is a year old! This toddler stage should be fun...bring it on!

What Do I Feed This Kid?

We are at a transition point. I knew it was coming. Getting rid of the bottle slowly but surely. I figure this will be difficult seeing as how, let's be honest...you've seen my kid, he loves his bottle! He would take one every hour on the hour if I'd let him. I've gotten him down to three a day, and this past week two. He eats breakfast consisting of Oatmeal or Cereal with apple sauce. After his morning nap he gets his first bottle. After that...it gets interesting. Do I give him another bottle after his afternoon nap, or try to figure out a good meal to feed him in place of that? I'm playing with it now. His daycare days, he still gets two bottles during the day and a bottle before bed, but on the other days when he's home, I try to incorporate new foods he may like.

Since we are at the 9 month mark, I can incorporate meats. I do not cook, so this should be interesting!!! I'm going to do my best to feed him foods he will like!! So, all you moms out there, tell me what you did at this point! Let me know good ways to get rid of a bottle and give more food!!

9 month update

It really has been an entire month since I've posted a new blog. Bad blogger...I know. Brody was 9 months old as of 7/25, and I am one depressed mommy! It's so bittersweet. I miss him being a baby, but this stage is just so much fun. I love that he's crawling and climbing and walking with his walker. He's curious and hilarious...just such a fun baby. So...on to the 9 month stats:
Brody is 23 lbs and 14 oz. Almost triple his birth weight:). He's in the 92nd percentile for weight.

He is 29 and 1/2 inches long - 85th percentile for height.

His head was 75th percentile.

We have one big boy on our hands! Everything checked out great.

Brody is down to two bottles a day (sometimes 3 if need be) so he's getting around 16-24 oz a day. He eats oatmeal and apple sauce for breakfast and gets a fruit and veggie for lunch. For dinner (this is transitioning) he's getting some table food. We are trying to incorporate pieces of fruit and pieces of vegetables, and now are supposed to bring in some shredded meat and yogurt. It's so hard to keep up with the constant food changes! Once I get used to his feeding schedule, we incorporate something else.

One odd thing is that Brody can't grasp putting food in his mouth. I know this is strange, but seriously my child NEVER puts toys or anything from his hand to his mouth. Never has. He picks up toys and plays with them, but doesn't put them in his mouth. Same with food. I will lay out food on his tray and he will pick it up and play with it or throw it down, but will NOT put it in his mouth. This has been challenging because, in turn, I am putting the food in his mouth. Yes, lovely. Hopefully he picks this up soon:). I figure watching kids do it in daycare, he'll pick it up soon enough? Until then, I'll just have messy hands:).

He is currently sleeping from around 8 or 9 PM to around 7 or 7:30 AM. He still takes a two hour morning nap and a two hour afternoon nap. I hope those stick a little while too!

I think walking is right around the corner...watch out!

Da-Da and Bye-Bye

I don't know if it's safe to say Brody is saying things, seeing as how he is repeating what we say, but it's still pretty darn cute. Brody has been really sick the past week and had/has an ear infection his right ear. He's usually a pretty awesome sleeper, and even sleeps through the night when sick, but I think ear infections are a WHOLE NEW BALL GAME! He's been up quite a bit, so Monday night he woke up pretty upset and just wanted to be held. Taylor was helping out (Brody can be quite the daddy's boy), and after he walked out of the room, Brody popped his head up off my shoulder and said "da-da". I freaked! I ran out and told Taylor, but of course he wouldn't do it again...and hasn't since then. I guess I have to say it was his "first word", but still not repeat!
We are doing the bye-bye thing pretty hard core. He's been waving back for a while, but has just started saying it...sounds more like "bah bah". So freaking cute. Our little boy is growing up so fast! But I've never had so much fun in my life. He is the sweetest thing and laughs so much...I just love it!

And he's off Part 2:)

And he's off!!!

Jun 10, 2010

A million things at once...

I feel like Brody has grown 5 months in the past 2 weeks. Not only did his bottom two teeth come in a few weeks ago, but he's also getting the top two (and what looks to soon be the top 4). The top teeth are cutting and the ones beside those look to be puffing up. I'm SO not ready for my baby to get all his teeth. Gotta say I'm missing that precious gummy smile!:) Luckily the teething hasn't been terrible. I've had some wake up calls, but he's still pretty happy for the most part during the day.
As if coping with the teeth weren't enough...Brody also started crawling, AND pulled himself up to stand in his crib...all this week! He's been "crawling" like for a second and sitting, but nothing I would really call mobile up until a few days ago. Last night I couldn't keep up with him! He's all over the place. He stood in his crib for the first time Friday night, 6/4 and has been doing it ever since. The climbing has begun! This little cutie is gonna keep me on my toes!!!

Sweet Tooth

My baby officially has his 1st tooth! As of 05/27/2010...it fought its way through. Though I could tell he was teething multiple ways, I luckily didn't have a child waking up screaming in the middle of the night. He's been so great, even when I could tell his poor little gums were hurting! My mom has been watching him today and seems to think the next one beside it is on its way up as well! So he has one bottom tooth and one on the way! Ugh...my sweet baby is growing up!

In addition to the tooth, he's also sitting in his crib. I'm debating on whether or not to go ahead and lower the crib. I think that will take place this weekend! He won't be sitting there for long. As hard as he's trying to pull up, it's only a matter of time. I guess all I can say is...where did the time go?

May 26, 2010

7 months old!!!!

I am not by nature a creative person. I know that it's important to have a baby book, but for now, this is Brody's baby book. I try to keep up with as much as possible in this blog. I can't seem to find the time to put together a book...so here goes.
I'm finding myself increasingly emotional over him getting older. I've started thinking back on the day he was born and those first few weeks. I miss my little baby, but at the same time, I've never had so much fun in my life! Every day brings a new smile and laugh...a new milestone...new, new, new things.

At 7 months, Brody is doing so much! He is beginning to crawl. The most he has mastered is "crawling" on his knees and lunging forward. He does this to get to his destination. He is trying to pull himself and walks well with our hands. He thinks this is the best thing ever! He seems to be getting his first tooth as well. He still eats 4 bottles and has a fruit, a veggie, and cereal in between. We get the biggest laugh with Max. He loves it! He still takes two naps a day...usually 2-2.5 hours each. And still sleeping between 9-11 hours a night.
He is SUCH a sweet baby. His entire face lights up when he smiles and giggles. I just can't get enough of those cheeks! Brody certainly has no lack of kisses. Speaking of, he has started giving kisses and waving. His version of a kiss is leaning in with an open mouth...nice and wet...drool all around!!!

I never knew you could love a baby so much. I wish time could stand still right now! This HAS to be the most fun age...I'm sure I will say that for months and months to come. Bring it on...I'm loving it!!!

Casanova

This is not a term I want to ever hear in regards to my son. This should be a light hearted post, so I'll spare you the details of the kind of man I want to raise Brody to be, but yes, casanova, womanizer, charmer, smooth talker....all terms I'd like to never hear associated with him!
However...it IS cute to hear it associated with your 6 month old. I went to pick up Brody from daycare yesterday and his teacher greeted me with a HUGE smile and said Brody has now been dubbed, Casanova. She proceeded to show me countless pictures of him "kissing" the little girls in his class. It was quite possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen. We've been teaching him "kisses" and "bye bye" lately. He loves it...and I guess was trying it out!

Come on...you know he's a little stud:)

Blues Clues is my favorite

I know...I know. Don't let your kids watch tv...blah blah blah. It's not like I stick my son in front of the tv and walk away to get stuff done. I have it on in the background usually. I leave it on Nick JR and love blues clues and the backyardigans. Much to my dismay, he loves Dora and, I think, Yo Gabba Gabba. I'm just gonna say it. Yo Gabba Gabba just freaks me out. It's creepy. I turn the channel just in case Brody does like it! I can only take so much. Dora already pushes me to my limit with the annoying factor. BUT, he loves the colors. And I SWEAR every time he hears the music and then "puzzle time"...his face lights up and his head jerks toward the TV! So funny.

I take him outside a ton and we play a lot, but yes, in the moments when we just want to play on the floor and watch cartoons, we do! And I must say...he's pretty darn cute (and chubby) doing it.

May 10, 2010

6 months old...REALLY?

I know...I know. I'm a terrible blogger. But don't judge until you work full time, 40+ hours and then mommy full time:)...I love it...but it's a lot of work! I don't have a terrible amount of time to blog, but I need to keep this up so I can remember it all!!

Brody is now a whopping six months old. And he's absolutely perfect if I do say so myself. I'm not biased at all! At six months, Brody:
  • is 20 lbs, 5 oz (85th percentile)

  • is 28 inches long (80th percentile)

  • I don't have the actual measurements, but he is 70th percentile for head size

  • is sitting up unassisted for long periods of time (he loves this...thinks he is king of the world)

  • is trying desperately to crawl, but not quite making it. He rocks back and forth and will crawl with his legs and then throw his upper body forward.

  • is sleeping through the night (USUALLY), but will wake once it seems once he reaches a new milestone and is too excited to sleep. He also usually takes two 2-hour naps and possibly another short cat nap during the day.

  • is eating 4 bottles a day (about 28 -30 oz)

  • is eating solids twice a day and cereal once. He loves, loves, loves carrots. Apples make him shiver his body and scrunch his face like he's eating a lemon!

  • loves Max. He could watch him and laugh all day long.

  • loves the itsy bitsy spider and watching Blues Clues, Dora, and the Backyardigans. He likes Yo Gabba Gabba, but it's just a bit too annoying for me to give in to that one!

  • wants to go outside all day long! Any fussy time can be cured by taking him on a walk or just playing outside.

  • smiles and laughs a lot. He is such a happy baby!!!

Brody is really just such a joy. He can be a handful...and his recent congestion and possible teething are noooo fun at all, but for the most part, he is pretty content and fun! I just so adore being a mommy!

First Haircut!

I have been debating over the past few weeks whether or not to cut Brody's hair. I know lots of babies have haircuts early, and many are needed! I also know that sometimes the hair evens out. Over the past week, I've noticed that will not happen. The hair on top keeps growing longer and longer, while the new hair growing in over the rest of his head is laying down nicely! Luckily for me, I have a hair stylist in the family...so this debating became a reality last night! My sweet baby looks like a little boy now! Cute blonde hair and all. I did get a little teary seeing the transformation. He looks so mischevious now!!! He gets funnier every single day! We decided to play and make a mohawk at the end...just for fun:)

Brody's 1st Easter

I understand that Brody was born just in time to experience all his "first" holidays, but I know these will be so much better the second time around! He's still too young to experience the fun of opening presents, much less an Easter basket. So, to answer those questions, no, he did not have an Easter basket this year! He got one from his Grandma, but not one from us this year. He did however have a stinkin' cute Easter outfit and little shoes to match. At this stage, that's the cutest part about his first holidays! I love raising Brody in church. I love that he will feel just as much at home at church as I did growing up. We have such an amazing church family that shower him with so much love!

That being said, my wonderful, pregnant friend Allie took a few photos of Brody at church on Easter. She's the best!!!

The cereal goes IN his mouth...right?

At Brody's 4-month appointment, the doctor said he was fine to start on some rice cereal....maybe once or twice a day. I looked at the doctor and laughed. My first thought was "have you SEEN how chubby this child is?" He told me it didn't matter and that as he grows, he will need more in order to keep sleeping through the night. The doctor said that once he is good on the cereal for a few weeks, I can start introducing the fruits and veggies. I definitely didn't start him on the cereal as I thought he was perfectly fine...but sure enough...2 weeks later...he started waking up between 1 and 2 AM to eat! I was not about to let that start all over again.

So at about 4 and 1/2 months, I gave in and bought the rice cereal. I had NO idea what to do. The first few times I kept adding formula, then cereal, then formula, then cereal...until the bowl was almost full! I knew he couldn't eat that much, but I only ended up giving him a few spoon fulls and then throwing it out. It was terrible. Poor Brody had NO IDEA what to do with that spoon! Possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen. He would stick his tongue out immediately and giggle. He thought it was a game. I did end up sticking to it, but only after calling the doctor's office and asking how much to give him. Now I give him about 2 tbspns mixed with pear juice (constipation is terrible after the cereal!) and a little formula. Brody likes the cereal thicker and he eats it better that way. However...this is how it goes: Spoon in, thumb in, spoon in, thumb in. He sucks his thumb after every bite...and he ends up looking like....well...see above:) One side effect of the cereal, he's getting so chubby! Yes, I know he was chubby before, but he needs to start crawling soon to burn off some of those calories! hahaha
He sure is cute:)

Thankful

Today I am feeling extremely thankful. Every now and then I will feel really overwhelmed with that feeling of thankfulness when looking at Brody. Today I am thankful for...

Chubby fingers on my neck, slobber kisses, cheeks so chubby that his eyes squint when he smiles, smiles...and lots of them, his nasaly giggle, the way he laughs when I put him in the air or nibble on his neck, the way he needs me, the look out of the corner of his eye and smile when he wakes up in the morning, the way his top lip curls when he's concentrating, the way he babbles in the backseat, his sweet chubby legs, the way he adores Taylor, and most of all, the way I love him. And so, so, so much more.

I never knew a love for your child could be this intense. It was there when he was born, but has absolutely grown each day. I love this age. I love that we can interact. He is the funniest person in the entire world to me. Taylor and I just sit and laugh at his faces and his sweet grins. I get sad when I realize how fast he is growing! I mean...can he really almost be FIVE MONTHS OLD!!!! I know I will adore each stage of his development...but this time is just perfect. Just thought I would take a moment to say how thankful I am for a beautiful, healthy son!

The nursery...my sanctuary...

Maybe that's a bit much, but that's how I feel. Brody's nursery is my absolute favorite place in the house. A lot of people feel the need to have a massive, over the top nursery. To each his own. I love that it's simplistic, classic, clean. Blue walls, white and blue bedding, black furniture. I don't know what it is, but it calms me. Plus, the invention of the glider is the best thing in the entire world. The older Brody gets, the more he fights sleep at night. He used to fall asleep in my arms and go right down. These days, we tend to put him down when he's getting sleepy and he goes to sleep on his own. Tonight, he was whining in his crib so I got him and rocked him. There is just nothing like that sweet, chubby hand on my neck...the other holding his thumb in his mouth. I rocked him just a few extra minutes to soak it all in. I guess every now and then I'm a little overwhelmed with his sheer cuteness. There is nothing like a chubby baby!

If only he would have continued sleeping as he did the past few months. Now...possible teething is waking him, not to mention all his little milestones that make him too excited to sleep. These are my personal thoughts. We are considering the rice cereal this week if he keeps waking up once to eat. He went from sleeping 12 hours to waking around 2...I need him to go back to the endless sleeping!:)

Giant Baby

So, I've seen those children that are postively massive. The kids that you look at and think are two years old and turn out to be 3 months. I've seen them...I've thought to myself how can a kid be that big...yes...I've done it. My child is not that huge, but I'm surprised at EVERY doctor's appointment how much he weighs! Taylor always throws out what I think to be an astronomical number, and yet, he's always close to the actual weight. I guess since Brody is so long, I never think he looks that big. To me, he looks like a perfect, chubby baby. Of course, Taylor is LOVING every minute of it. He loves to say how Brody will be some big football player...we shall see.

All of that to say, we went for Brody's 4 month check up (yes my little baby is FOUR MONTHS OLD!!!!). This was a MUCH better appointment as Brody smiled and giggled at every nurse and doctor he saw. He loves to be a little show off. He is 26 inches long, which is 3 inches taller than his last appointment at 2 months...and he is SIXTEEN POUNDS...12oz. I couldn't believe it. He has doubled his birth weight! But I love every perfect little ounce. So he is in the 90th percentile for both height and weight, and 75th for head size. I asked the doctor if he thought he weighed too much (yes I worry about these things), to which, of course, he said absolutely not. He told me never to worry unless my son is losing weight, but the fact that he is in the same percentile for both height and weight is a good thing. He's well proportioned.

Aside from his stats, Brody is giggling constantly, shrieking...yes...his new favorite thing, rolling from front to back, pulling himself to a seated position, and standing with help...his ABSOLUTE favorite thing to do ever. Every time he is sitting on my lap he wants to stand. He's such a happy baby...loves to be active! I think he is teething, but just can't be sure. He is chewing his hands constantly and chewing just as much. I adore this child more EVERY DAY! More to come...much, much more:)

16 weeks

My original plan was to update my blog with all the missing posts from the past 10 weeks, but let's face it. That's impossible. My baby boy has had way too many little milestones and cute things to update a million blog posts! So my little resolution will be to update this now WEEKLY! That's much more doable. I've been avoiding updating thinking of the millions of pictures and things I need to include! Sooo...let's focus on what Brody is doing NOW!:)

At 16 weeks:

Brody is sleeping anywhere from 8-9:30 PM until 6-7:30 AM. Every now and then I will get a 5am wake up call, but it's rare. He is rolling from front to back...though he loves being on his belly and his back, so he doesn't really feel the need to do it much. He absolutely LOVES: cartoons, mommy singing, his baby einstein bouncer/jumper, his nana and pawpaw's house and all the toys there, sitting like a big boy in his bumbo chair, basically anything on the tv, sucking his thumb and chewing his fingers, people blowing on his belly, and peekaboo.

That said, he loves a lot more, but those are the main things. He desperately wants to sit up and bring his feet to his mouth, but he can't just yet and gets so frustrated! Sitting up will be a while, but he so wants to! As far as weight and height go, his 4 month checkup is the 25th, so we will know in just a few weeks! At 9 weeks Brody was 13lbs 8oz and 23 inches long. He was in the 95th percentile for weight, 75th for height, and 75th for head size. Such a sweet, chubby, happy baby!!!

In the beginning...I absolutely loved him more than life, but it is true that they just keep getting better. He is SO much fun now. I love hearing the cackling laugh, seeing his big gummy smiles, and hearing him make his funny noises. He has just really learned how to shriek and squeal...and boy is he LOVING IT!!! I love his personality. He and Ella have so many similarities as far as personality that I'm seeing!

Well, that's it for now. I'll update SOON!:)

Brody's 5 week checkup

I wasn't nervous about this doctor's appointment, because I had no knowledge that I would have to endure the pain of seeing my son get a shot. I had prepared myself that I would need to go through it at 2 months, but not at the one month appointment. Brody weighed 11lbs 8 oz and measured 22 and 3/4 inches in length. He was in the 95th percentile for height and weight and in the 50th percentile for head size. I just love his cute, perfect, little head! He screamed every time I had to set him down to be weighed, measured, and checked out. He was NOT a happy boy for the doctor!

After discussion of his discomfort on his back, the doctor prescribed me Zantac with the thought that he may have "silent" reflux. I wasn't sure since he didn't spit up much, but he gets the hiccups constantly and freaks out about 20 minutes after he eats if I lay him down. SO, I thought...it can't hurt!

I thought I was ready to leave when he said, "ok...well the last thing will just be his Hep B shot and you can take him home."...I gave him a look that indicated I was NOT aware of this! He told me not to worry that it would be quick. The nurse came in and gave the already unhappy Brody this shot...I was NOT prepared. He looked at me with this pitiful "how could you let her do this to me" face!!! It was terrible. Like most moms, I shed a few tears once the nurse left the room while I held and rocked him. The good part is that all the commotion put him right to sleep for the next few hours. Poor guy.

I am HAPPY to report that after the Zantac...I have one seriously happy little boy. He no longer has the painful tantrums and seems to be doing wonderfully! I'm loving this sweet face!!

Splish splash I'm takin a bath...

And NOT enjoying it!!!! Brody had his first bath during his second week and hated every minute of it. He criiiieeeeedddd but had that sweet baby smell after his first little bath! Mom helped me out since I was a bit squeamish about doing it alone...and Taylor was the photog:)...here's the cutie getting all clean...

Brody...week 2-3

Not a lot of change from the first week. I've become much more comfortable, but still not a lot of sleep! Some nights are better than others, but his longest stretch is usually from about 8 to 12...rarely he will last until 1am. After that it's 2 hours stretches. With breastfeeding, he eats for about 30 minutes and then takes a while to go back to sleep. He likes to stay awake a while! Luckily, I don't have a screaming child. He may wake up a lot, but he does not cry much at all! The first week he had lots of fussy times, but that went away pretty quickly! He's starting to crack little smiles...so precious! He is still trying to nap off and on most of the day! Here are a few more pictures of my cute little man!
